’I wanted to create a story with a castaway feel,’ Nicola Rose, Red’s fashion director at large, tells us when we show her this gorgeous photo from the archive. To carry out Nicola’s vision, the team made their way to a secluded beach in Barbados, where locals helped them build a hut from driftwood (those were the days!). While the shot looks effortless, photographer David Gubert says, ‘It was the true meaning of “it takes an army”.’ Starring Dutch supermodel Yfke Sturm, there were hair and make-up artists, stylists and digital technicians all working to produce this picture of paradise. And to think Tom Hanks just had a deflated football.…
