The Walther PPK actually hails from a line of pistols that started in 1929. Invented by Carl Walther, the Polizeipistole (PP) was a revolutionary design for the time. Semi-automatic handguns first became popular in the early 20th century after their invention in the 1890s. The handgun incorporated both double-and single-action operation with a safety lever.
