The basis for many new guns is the AR-15, and it’s not hard to see why. There are endless accessories, all of the dimensions and tooling are well-known, and the design itself ended up being far more modular than even Stoner himself could foresee. Which also means adding new into the world of the AR-15 is exceedingly difficult. There was a time when CMMG was best known for selling .22LR AR conversions and tongue-in-cheek canned “tactical bacon,” but these days, though they still have rimfire conversions and plenty of complete .22LR guns, they are far and away from the meme category.
