The Flying Flea attempt at ‘A Bridge Too Far’ proves to be more like five bridges too far!

It all started with ATS Corporal Mary, who entered her 1939 Morris Commercial ‘Amber the Ambulance’ for the 80th commemoration of XXX Corps (Thirty Corps) part in operation ‘Market Garden’ to take the bridge at Arnhem, as popularised in the film A Bridge Too Far. Market was the air drops, and Garden the progression of XXX Corps up what became ‘Hell’s Highway’ with the intention of relieving John Frost’s paratroopers at Arnhem bridge (still known by his name to this day). PUB had recently acquired the WD/RE Flying Flea, incomplete and non-running, but the event was still some time away.
