You’d be forgiven if you’ve not heard of SLC Rail - it is still a relatively small company based in the Midlands. But many in the rail industry would bill it as a major force in the realisation of many high-profile station projects, and a forward thinker when it comes to innovative ways of funding new stations. Around the Midlands and beyond, SLC Rail is often seen as a go-to choice for those wanting to get third-party rail schemes (those not being built by Network Rail) off the ground. The origins of the company can be partly traced back to another major rail innovator -Chiltern Railways.
