Class 117 DMUs on the move

THREE preserved Class 117 units were transferred to new homes in unrelated moves during November. The first to arrive at a new base was twin set Nos. 51352+51376, which left Long Marston for the South Devon Railway. Initially preserved at the West Somerset Railway (having been purchased by the Territorial Army), the pair had been at Long Marston since 2007. During its time there, No. 51352 was painted in a yellow colour not dissimilar to the BT advertising livery applied to Class 118 set P460 that operated in the West Country in the mid-1980s. The set needs some work to return it to service.
