Shunters on the move

RSS organised a chain of moves around the country swapping shunters in and out of traffic.

RAILWAY Support Services has been busy shuffling its Class 08s around during the period under review. Having returned to the RSS base at Wishaw (Warwickshire) following its radiator failure at Wolverton, No. 08730 was released back into traffic onNovember 17 following the completion of repairs. The shunter now has a brand new radiator and, for some reason, the nose end wasp stripes have been painted out leaving an all-yellow end – although still in ABP blue livery applied for the aborted move to Hams Hall. The release of No. 08730 precipitated a roundabout of moves when it was first moved to EMD Longport to allow No. 08784 to be taken out of traffic for attention to its wheelsets, these being sent to the South Devon Railway for attention.
