Balfour Beatty has implemented a modification to both its Class 20s (20901/905), by fitting a galvanised conduit to run the wires to power the cess lights.
It’s in a T-shape and comes from under the locomotives’ headlights.
The plan to fit blue star multiple working cable to the wagons is likely to be undertaken early in the new year. The train has been in big demand, meaning that BB has not been able to stand the wagons down to carry out this change.
Once done, it will allow the trains to have both Class 20s powering when on the move. Currently, just the lead locomotive works with the rear ‘20’ left idling.
