GWML track move for HS2 Old Oak Common work

WORK begins at Old Oak Common this Christmas to reposition the Great Western Main Line, as HS2 continues work on the conventional main line station. Paddington station will be closed between December 27 and 29, to enable work to start on the line. The track is being repositioned some 50 metres to the north, bringing it closer to the HS2 station. Repositioning the GWML is a complex and often overlooked part of the wider Old Oak Common build. Over the coming years, it will involve building a new bridge over Old Oak Common Lane and another over London Underground’s Central Line, as well as widening the HS2 approach just north of the site.
