Go-op targets 2026 start for open access to Taunton

THE chairman of open access operator Go-op is confident that the company will be a success, as it looks to raise around £2 million in start-up costs with the aim of starting services in 2026. Go-op was given the go-ahead by the Office of Rail and Road in mid-November to start running trains between Swindon, Taunton and Weston-super-Mare. Chairman Alex Lawrie was “over the moon”, telling RAIL: “It has been such a long journey to get to this point.
