‘395’ runs through buffers at depot

An investigation is under way into how a Southeastern Class 395 Javelin unit went through the end of a siding. The electric multiple unit (395008) hit the buffers in a siding parallel to the line towards Minster, at the western end of Ramsgate maintenance depot, shortly before 1920 on November 28. While no cause for the derailment has been given, RAIL understands that the issue was not adhesion related. As this issue of RAIL went to press, it was hoped the unit would be recovered over the weekend of December 7/8, after which more detailed examination could take place to assess the damage and work out the cause of the derailment.
