Exploratory work on improving rail links and development of a ‘Dorset Metro’ business case will begin this summer, according to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.
The newly published draft local plan identifies a need for more frequent rail services across the region, as well as the possibility of new railway stations in Poole and North Bournemouth and a new platform at Bournemouth Central.
The council will also be working with the Department for Transport on a business case for more frequent services between Wareham and Brockenhurst.
Councillors will now scrutinise the local plan before publication later this year.…
