The psychedelic Swedes change musical direction – sorta. Anyone familiar with Dungen will know the Stockholm band for its lush psychedelic folk-and-jazz flavour, late 60/early 70s analogue warmth, fretbuzzadelic reverb and splashy drums. There will also be the awareness that super-fan Kevin Parker took their prototype in 2010 and bolted with it, pretty successfully. But Dungen prevail; still singing in their native tongue after 23 years, now on album nine, they push for new routes. En Är… dials back some of the fuzz, brings frontman Gustav Ejstes’ keyboards forward and supports with their signature banks of harmonies.
