YAMAHA TURN-T The boffins at Yamaha recently put their heads together for a bit of blue-sky thinking, and came up with what they call the “Stepping Out Of The Slate” collection: ideas and concepts that may come to fruition if enough of the general public go “Wow!” Possibly the most preposterous of these is the Turn-T, which looks like a vintage record player, complete with tonearm, which you rest on a spinning image of a record on the screen of your smartphone in order to hear some tunes. None of the tactility and nostalgic character of vinyl, but all of the hassle.
