Doomsters no more, US longhairs embrace the cosmic. Elder leave no room for doubt as to their evolving musical intentions with Innate Passage. The band came from the US stoner/doom scene but with 2019’s The Gold & Silver Sessions and 2020’s Omens, they voyaged further out into the waters of psychedelic rock and prog. With their sixth full-length album, they have the wind in their sails, embracing their most expansive instincts. “With five tracks, it’s a case of quality over quantity.” Innate Passage marks the Massachusetts band’s second album with drummer Georg Edert, cementing the line-up with Nick DiSalvo on vocals and guitar, Mike Risberg (who joined in 2017) on guitars and keys, and bassist Jack Donovan.
