PRICE £229 exc VAT from morecomputers.com Sony’s SNC-XM631 is an IP camera that’s ideal for discreet surveillance, as it measures only 105mm in diameter. Its tiny size doesn’t limit its capabilities though: it can record in full 1080p resolution, with image quality that’s easily the best we’ve seen from Sony. At full resolution, live-view quality is excellent, with sharp focus, good colour balance and plenty of detail. Video is captured at 30fps, and we found motion was conveyed very smoothly with no jerkiness. Setting up the SNC-XM631 is simple: the supplied mounting template makes it easy to attach the camera to the ceiling or a wall, and to adjust the lens; loosening its single locking screw lets you rotate it vertically and horizontally.
