THE FIRSTI knew of it was when a notification popped up on Facebook. “Siri likes a photo you are tagged in.” Does she? A quick press and there I was, in all my red-faced glory, reaching the final stage of the Omagh Half Marathon. I’d been running on fumes at that point, and the photo did nothing to mask the fact. It also did nothing to hide the slight paunch that a year of running has failed to budge. So what could I do? Other than taking on a vigorous daily routine of stomach-reducing exercises, or perhaps some tactical liposuction, very little.
