Our view is entirely unchanged in light of this group test, and that’s despite the excellence of the Huawei and Samsung hardware. It’s true that those tablets are sleeker and more stylish than the iPad, which is made to look dated by its huge chin and forehead bezels, but Apple’s “budget” tablet matches them for speed whether you’re looking at processor-based benchmarks such as Geekbench or gaming tests such as 3DMark (see p92).
