STEP 1 Choose your OS There are two main choices here, plus the wild card option of Windows (see p89). For now, we’ll focus on Android and iPadOS. In virtually every way, iPadOS is the superior operating system. It offers multitasking that makes it a breeze to split apps, puts heavy emphasis on privacy, and its level of integration with the rest of the Apple ecosystem – phones, computers, services – puts Android to shame. It’s also very slick: widgets, for instance, slide stylishly into view on demand. In addition, the iPad’s dominance and the long-established App Store have made it catnip for developers.
