Going, Google, gone: first Picasa, now Photos

Google has addicted us to a free service and I, dutiful little dealer that I am, helped the tech giant hook my friends and family too

It took just shy of five years for Google Photos to fully ingratiate itself into my life, and as soon as it happened, Google yanked the photo storage out from under me. In a few months, Google will be counting new uploads of photos against the 15GB every account gets for free, meaning many people will need to start paying. I’m livid, despite the fact I already pay Google for storage. Like many PC Pro readers, I provide my family with computing support and advice, and there is no task more important to my parents – grandparents to five children – than organising, finding and displaying digital photos.
