One of the few statistics that sticks in my head is that the average length of stay in a job in the UK is a shade over two years. Unfortunately, I can’t find a source for this memory, and other research suggests it’s closer to five years, but even so this means that the average worker has between ten and 20 different employers, assuming a 50-year working span. Of course, not the whole workforce is going to be bang on the population average in any company, so one would be unsurprised by places and people that buck the trend.
