Adobe’s video AI is all filler

Firefly now generates short videos from text or images

Adobe has launched generative video for the first time, both as a standalone product and embedded in Premiere Pro. Firefly AI can generate Full HD video clips, though they’re only five seconds long. While that’s not going to launch anyone’s Hollywood career, Adobe claims the clips can be used as B-roll or to fill in short gaps in video timelines. In Premiere Pro, the AI can extend the length of existing clips by a few seconds, in much the same way it can expand the canvas of still images in Photoshop. “We knew we had created this incredible image model that you’ve seen, and so we started training it on Adobe Stock videos and some other videos that we sourced,” said Adobe’s Zeke Koch. “And pretty soon we had something…
