Square-Enix speeds up its departure from PS5 exclusives

We said it on these pages back in December 2024 that Japanese publishers are abandoning Sony’s exclusives policy, and Square Enix’s president Takashi Kiryu truly showed it off last month when, in front of the whole world at The Game Awards, he announced without any prior notice that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available for PC this month. The second instalment of the everlasting JRPG saga sees the remake trilogy continue under the guidance of Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura. Rebirth picks up the FFVII Remake story, following hero Cloud Strife and his companions, after they escape from the dystopian city of Midgar and proceed on an epic adventure across the planet while pursuing series antagonist Sephiroth.
