De Paul King Avec Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant… Soyons clairs dès le début : ceux qui pensent retrouver le délire façon Tim Burton de « Charlie et la chocolaterie » ou la tendresse drolatique de « Paddington », de Paul King, risquent d’être déçus. Ce retour aux origines du fameux personnage de Roald Dahl est un pur produit hollywoodien, aux moyens importants à défaut d’une imagination réellement fertile. La jeunesse de Willy Wonka prend ici des airs de comédie musicale, calibrée pour plaire à un public familial. Le charme et la prestance naturelle de Chalamet font le job, la mise en scène est soignée. Pas surprenant pour un sou, mais le contrat du film de Noël est rempli……
