En ce mois de mars 1988, alors que se prépare le duel élyséen entre François Mitterrand et Jacques Chirac, une femme se rend à son bureau. À peine est-elle sortie de l’ascenseur qu’un tueur muni d’un silencieux l’abat. Avec son complice, il ressort tranquillement par l’escalier. Une scène digne d’un polar. Sauf qu’ici tout est vrai. Et que la victime de cette opération commando s’appelle Dulcie September, représentante en France de l’ANC, le parti de Nelson Mandela, le plus célèbre prisonnier d’Afrique du Sud. Qui a tendu le piège mortel ? Pour quelle raison ? Et, surtout, pourquoi est-elle tombée aussi vite dans l’oubli – l’affaire a été classée sans suite en 1992 ?
