Picot Cutting - Create a 3D parchment feather

In this month’s workshop Lesley looks at how to create a 3D feather from parchment paper in a technique known as picot cutting.

You will need Your basic tool kit plus: Pergamano ● 1.5mm and 3mm embossing tools ● Bold 1-needle perforating tool ● Bold straight grid ● Perga glue Plus ● Parchment scissors ● Plain parchment paper ● Brown parchment paper ● White pencil ● White gel pen or mapping pen and white ink ● Straight edge scissors ● Fine metallic thread ● White, brown and gold mirri card TO CREATE THE 3D FEATHER Trace Repeat with the 1.5mm embossing tool all the way along. This should achieve a shaft that is finer at the top of the feather than at the quill (step 2). Emboss Working on the back of your work, with a 3mm embossing tool, emboss the shaft of the feather, lifting your tool slightly towards the finer end…
