This is probably the MOST important book on the Up-Country of South Carolina. It contains more than 4,000 abstracts of wills, bonds and administrations between 1774 and 1860 and more than 35,000 names of persons mentioned in these records. Old Ninety-Six and Abbeville District are the present-day counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Edgefield, Greenwood, Greenville, Laurens, Newberry, Pickens, Oconee, Saluda, Spartanburg, and Union. Old Ninety-Six District bordered Georgia on its western boundary and was the ancestral home of many early Georgia settlers.
