Amirah Kassem FOUNDER, FLOUR SHOP For Amirah Kassem, it all started with pink cowboy boots, a gift from her grandfather when she was 3. “Every morning I would put them on as part of my power suit,” she says. Thus began her passion for fashion. The glorious colors of her native Mexico inspire her “piñata” style, as she describes it—layers on layers of feel-good hues and sparkle—not to mention the most sought-after confection at her New York City bakery, Flour Shop: a rainbow layer cake with a candy surprise inside. And rainbow happens to be Kassem’s favorite color. “I could never pick just one,” she says. “Rainbows are comprehensive of everyone and everything, and I love inclusivity.” That notion sums up her closet—playful-chic in palette and principle.
