This is a devotional book that takes the reader through the entire Bible in one year. Each day there is a passage from the Old Testament and one from the New, along with a Psalm and one or two Proverbs. This provides variety. There is a focus on one portion of the daily reading. The author, Hal Kitchings, provides practical application of a selected bible passage for the primary purpose of spiritual growth on the part of a believer. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ, based on faith. (Ephesians 2:8-9). And the Christian is to live out the life of a Jesus follower by faith one day, and one verse at a time. (Hebrews 11:6). Thus, Hal has entitled his newest book, NEXT VERSE-A Daily Guide to Live by Faith Even When Life Throws You a Curve.
The Bible defines faith this way... Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1) If you have a fantastic day, read the next verse. If you have a difficult day, read the next verse. If you are blessed with a beautiful family, home, and job, read the next verse. And if you live on the streets right now, read the next verse. Regardless of our season in life and how difficult it may or may not be, we need to read the Bible on an ongoing basis and live out its truths by faith. The Psalmist put it this way, Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. (Psalms 86:11)
May God bless your journey of faith as you commit to read His Word, by faith, this year. If you miss a day or two, don't stop. Just read the next verse.
