THE VAMPIRE’S WIFE – THE NEW IMPORT Not a New Zealand brand but by far one of the most interesting international labels to land here in recent times, The Vampire’s Wife was picked up by Workshop late last year and despite its eye-watering price point (more than $2000 for a velvet minidress), it’s catching the attention of local fashion followers for its subversive, disco-goth aesthetic and, of course, its painfully cool pedigree. Designed by Susie Cave, wife of Nick, whose haunting, experimental rock finds a kind of physical form in his wife’s high-necked, puff-sleeved, Victorian-with-a-metal-twist garments, the ready-to-wear collections aren’t built around everyday pieces (unless you are Kate Moss or Bella Freud or one of the other enfant terribles and friends of the Caves to feature in the latest brand…
