Forty years later, Tessa could still taste his kiss...
There's something special about first love, and for Tessa, such a simple phrase was an understatement. What she and Dylan had was magic. She had a great life even with the heartaches, no complaints. Her husband was killed in a car crash years before and her children were grown. Her life had been rewarding but she found herself drifting back to high school and the one she thought she'd spend her life with.
Dylan stared at his screen. After all these years, could it really be her? He couldn't be that lucky, could he? Life had taught him many things, and one of those lessons was you usually can't get back what you stupidly threw away, especially after so many years. It looked like he might have to rethink that particular life lesson as he responded to her message. While his fingers typed a typical greeting, he couldn't help but wonder if she still thinks about him as much as he dreams about her.
Over the years, they'd both found themselves drifting to the past and the passion they both felt when near one another. Are the memories truly indicative of what they felt all those years ago or has time and space given them both an elevated impression of their time together?
One thing both can be sure of is, as much as they thought about one another, neither was Never Unloved.
