These poems have been written over a period of about thirty-six years, as God gave me the ideas for each of them. That is not to say that God gave me the exact words for each poem. Some were written in a matter of minutes. Others were mulled over for a while before they were completed. One poem, The Good Lord Took A liking To Me, sat in the back of my mind for two years before I wrote the poem. At that point, it was finished in less than half an hour. My main purpose is for God to be glorified in all things. If someone finds inspiration, peace, spiritual guidance and assurance, or, most importantly, a relationship with Jesus Christ after reading these poems that God has given me, I will be greatly blessed. I grew up in the country, on a cotton farm in Mississippi. Church life was very important to my family. We attended services every time the door was open. That also included association meetings and revivals that were within driving distance. Living out in the country, it was only natural for a boy to like hunting and fishing. For hunting, all I had to do was get my gun and walk out the back door of our house. Fishing was a little more difficult. I had to depend on my Dad to drive me to a lake for that, but he liked fishing too, so we enjoyed that fairly often. The greatest joy I have experienced, throughout my life, has been sharing God's Word with individuals who want to hear and understand what the Bible is saying to them. Preaching in Church is great, but nothing surpasses seeing someone trust Christ.
