This book is about my journey to wholeness in Christ. It begins with meeting Bob and Mary Armstrong at Saint Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church in Brier Washington. I was exploring Orthodoxy. Bob and Mary became my godparents and together we journeyed to overcome those things within me that were holding me back to becoming a mature and healthy man. Bob and Mary showed me what an Orthodox Christian life looks like through their example. In the twenty years I knew them I watched them live the love of Christ at prayer at home and in church. I noticed above all was how that love for animated all they did and whoever they were with.. Bob and Mary were equal partners in all things. Both were Stanford graduates and both accomplished in their fields. Gradually I began to emulate them and though their prayers and the sacraments of the church I began to be free of my past and become more of who I am meant to be in Christ. Bob showed me what a Christian man looked like. In Mary I saw a kindred spirit. One who listened to God and heard Him. In Bob I found that a man is nor one who is cannot think or feel. Bob who was intelligent, well read and loved people and did anything he could fo them. He was strong physically, spiritually, and morally and lived these values and without having to talk about them. Together they demonstrated how to live the love of God, overcome tragedy, and love their neighbor as themselves.
