CARL R. HALLADAY, SR. was born in 1903 and grew up with the automobile industry. His son, Carl Jr. tells his father's story about growing up on a small farm in Ohio. Then after an interesting time in the Army, he went to work at the brand-new General Motors Proving Ground as one of their first test drivers. At the end of WWII, he established one of the most successful and well-respected automobile dealerships in the Rocky Mountain area. Halladay Motors began business in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1944. The company continued to grow through four owners and will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year. Carl Jr. draws on a vast array of information, including many photos and over 20 hours of audio tapes his father recorded about his life story.
The reader will also get a brief glimpse into both the wholesale and retail workings of the automobile business. There's something for everyone. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing My Father's Legacy. -Carl R. Halladay, Jr.
