2007 JAGUAR XKR

WITH THE JAG’S break-in period—4975 miles—at last logged, we finally got the opportunity to stretch its legs at the test track. While not as quick as the XKR we tested during the 2007 Car of the Year competition—that cat ran 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.8 at 110.9 mph—our long-termer was nonetheless right on its tail, recording 4.7 and 13.2 at 109.0, respectively. About 1000 miles later, the Jag alerted senior editor Ron Kiino via the instrument panel’s center readout that the key fob’s battery was low. Not wanting to have to take it to the dealer, Kiino opted for the owner’s manual first, hoping there was an easy fix he could perform at home. Sure enough, all it needed was a common CR2032…
