KTM a choisi un moteur synchrone à aimant permanent, refroidi par eau (circuit contenant 0,7 l), relié à la roue arrière par un train d’engrenages (rapport 2,4), la transmission secondaire classique étant en 11/48. Il n’y a ni embrayage, ni boîte de vitesses, donc. Un module dénommé EMS (Engine Management System) gère tout ça. On a en tête l’idée qu’un moteur électrique mouline. Au guidon, on a aussi cette impression mais celui de l’E-XC ne tourne qu’à 6 000 tours. Les carters alu donnent une apparence quasi « thermique » à ce bloc. La batterie de 28 kg crache 2,6 kW/h, créés par 360 cellules Samsung assemblées en un bloc unique, qui comprend aussi le BMS (Battery Management System). Tension nominale 260 V, tension maxi 300 V.
