Welcome to Mike O’Connell’s Proto:48 Pacific Railway & Navigation Co. The prototype was purchased in 1915 by the Southern Pacific, which had acquired controlling interest of the railroad almost a decade earlier. Though businesses saw the value of the coastal timbered rain forests, the wet tunnels and severe rainstorms prompted locals to call it the “Punk, Rotten and Nasty.” PR&N was also known as the Tillamook Line, named for its Oregon terminal. And it is from this point that the fictional history diverges. Mike, the builder of the PR&N, extends the history of the line. His PR&N is a trunk line and bridge route.
