A friend is considering buying his first motorhome (with a sizeable budget) and one of the first things he told me was ‘I want an A-class’. Having seen the reaction you get when pulling up on site in an A-class motorhome, I can see where he's coming from. With no commercial vehicle element to the exterior styling, they look more prestigious, more like a leisure vehicle. Then there's the thought of sitting behind that panoramic windscreen in a full-width cab, which feels very different to sitting in a van. There's something very special about driving through the Alps in an A-class.
Of course, there's a premium to pay for an A-class (compared with an equivalent-spec low-profile) and they're not for everyone. There has never been much choice of British-built options…
