This book is a biography, It starts with the author's life in a small English village during and after WW2, It then describes his early years in training in London, and since 1963 his medical experiences in Newfoundland.
Friends and colleagues who have read some of the essays that comprise this book have commented on the fact that the author has had a very interesting career, and has experienced cases that are far from ordinary.
The first half of the book contains the stories of his boyhood, and case histories from his early years in practice. The second half consists of detailed case histories of patients treated with hypnosis. It may surprise readers who are unfamiliar with "clinical" hypnosis, to read about the interesting, and often dramatic results that occur with hypnosis in a medical setting.
Some of the stories are written by the patients themselves with their own voice.
