Since a 2014 European court ruling, Google has offered EU citizens the ‘right to be forgotten’. This means they can have inaccurate or excessive information about them removed from search results.
However, this doesn’t apply globally. Users have also complained that this request isn’t easy to make. Google addressed this by overhauling its ‘Results about you’ feature. This provides more control for users to demand removal of data like names, phone numbers, and addresses. Users can click into search results to let them know what data is eligible for removal.
Google also offers an option to update outdated search results. If a search summary displays outdated information, Google can crawl the page to refresh the data.…
