The narrative commences with the Bartie family struggles, triumphs, and hardships, tragedies and emotional stress encountered during the depression era of the late 1930's preceding the climactic year of 1957. On June 27th, this country's fifth worst destructive hurricane named Audrey ravaged the Cameron coast claiming well over 500 victims in her aftermath.
