Barry Phillips-Moore was one of Harry Hopman's "boys", and played tennis during the years when Australia ruled the tennis world (1950's - 1970's). Because he fell out of favour with the Federation (because he put his love for Anne above his love of tennis), he was forced to play most of his tennis in Europe, where he was very successful. He tells many stories of his time and travels in Europe, and of interesting people he met. During his playing days, and during the years following, he worked on developing a better racquet. He discusses this in his book. After retiring from playing, he became a very successful, and popular, coach. He accepted some young players who were rejected from the tennis system because they had failed to progress, and he coached them to success. Peter McNamara was an example of this, a potential number one, if not for a tragic accident. Later Mark Woodforde became one of his success stories. This book is an essential read for anybody who loves tennis, sport in general, and life.
