It had previously been serialised in a periodical called Vorwrts. There were two other German editions during Engels' life. Anti-Dhring was first published in English translation in 1907.The work was perhaps Engels' most important contribution and development within Marxist theory.Eugen Dhring had previously created his own version of socialism, which was supposed to be a replacement for Marxism.
