On a warm June evening, we piled in our boat for a relaxing Sunday cruise. The kids perfected their forward flips off the bow of the boat while music about coconuts streamed through the boat speakers.
We headed home as the sun set, cruising on the calm water, not another boat in sight. This is when our watchful captain (also called Dad) spotted something in our path ahead. A deer swimming in the lake? We had heard stories about this. A dog? Perhaps it needed rescued.
We can't remember who said the word "bear" first, but once it was said it was easy to see. A bear!
