An inspirational adventure story about a 12-year-old boy who wants to save his sister's life, and prove to himself that life is fair. Similar to Wonder, The Alchemist, or Jeremy Fink & The Meaning of Life, Karma is a fast-paced read that is appropriate for all ages.
Everyone says life's not fair. Karma wants to prove them all wrong.
Things were going bad for Karma. His mom died, his stutter got worse, every other boy in the sixth grade was getting taller, and Mike Garfinkle was finding new, creative ways to torment him. Plus, how are you going to be a professional baseball player and get on ESPN if you can't even hit one over the fence? In Little League?
But when his sister's sickle cell disease becomes life-threatening, Karma decides it's time to change his luck. After all, his mom gave him his unusual name for a reason. She said it means, "You get out of life what you put into it," and he's determined to prove she was right.
To save his sister - and make sixth grade a little more tolerable - Karma will have to travel a great distance alone, break a few rules, and uncover a mystery of the seven cups he finds along his journey.
