ABOUT THE BOOK AND AUTHOR

First published in 1847, Jane Eyre was the second novel written by Charlotte Bront (1816-1855) but it was the first one published. It was originally released under her pen name Currer Bell.

Jane Eyre is written in a first person narrative. Jane narrates her experiences including her growth to adulthood and her love of an employer, Edward Rochester.

Charlotte Bront had four published novels: Jane Eyre (1847), Shirley (1849), Villette (1853) and The Professor (1857). Charlotte Bront and two of her sisters, Anne Bront and Emily Bront, jointly wrote a book of poems which was originally published in 1846 under their pen names Currer, Acton and Ellis Bell.
