FURTHER AFIELD See the real-life muse that is Monet's gardens, just one hour away from Paris by train in Giverny. Claude Monet's house and gardens are where the Impressionist master lived and painted for 43 years. He shaped the gardens in order to paint them, his art imitating life and vice versa. The lily pond (pictured top) with a Japanese bridge and weeping willow tree are among the most recognisable parts of the garden, made famous by the painter's brush.
