It's enticing to imagine I could have every detail of my itinerary sorted without even getting out of bed. With online bookings expected to make up 73 per cent of the travel market by 2026, I'm not the only one hunched over the keyboard clicking on dreamy destinations. The convenience of digital technology has almost half of the world's travellers now using AI to plan their trips, according to Skyscanner. I could easily hit the ‘Book Now’ button and have all my travel plans lined up in pretty, colour-coded rows on my phone and drift off to sleep, feeling very efficacious. Yet, I don't. Serendipity has come calling…
