Amalfi Drive heaves with late summer traffic. Horn-happy Vespa drivers scoot by inches from the narrow footpath, whipping up the hem on my sundress in their wake. Ahead, a coach edges its way around the corner, leaving just centimetres between it, a storefront and the Fiat it's trying to squeeze by. It's only 9am, and the procession winding its way through Praiano is already a spectacle. They're all en route to Positano, the idyllic cliffside village and poster child of the Amalfi Coast, so popular it sees upwards of 12,000 daily visitors during high season.
