This garden apartment in central Copenhagen embraces colour and pattern in a bold new way

We are used to associating Scandinavian design with a minimalistic aesthetic of light and neutral shades. In 2021, however, Northern Europe seems to have burst into colour, and this extraordinary apartment in the heart of Copenhagen is a perfect example. Owned by young couple Kristina Mie Hansen and René Løkkegaard Jepsen, who have a young son named Bernhard, it’s a spacious ground-floor apartment in a 19th-century building. The family has 104 square metres to spread out, and the blessing of good natural light – quite unusual for such a property.
